Jillian's Beer Pong Date - July 18, 2006

Little did the Wildman know that Tuesday's date night would include more than just a bid to the movie "Click". As we left the theater and talked about the movie, which by the way we gave a B rating in spite of some mediocre reviews, we strolled by Jillians just outside as the Boston Red Sox were fending off the Kansas City Royals 1-0. "How about a game of Beer Pong", my wife inquired. As I was rather taken off guard by this request, I thought it would be an excellent way to cap off a great date night. However, first I had to head home to get the official newly minted Vegas paddle that will make its first trip out to the promised land. In any case when we went upstairs to the Jillian's pool facilities, the crowd was minimal, but both pong tables were booked. I have this hypothesis that foreigners especially like ping pong (not to be confused with beer pong) and they once again commanded the ping pong tables. It was fortuitous that they did not stay very long and we were able to bat the ball around. A second surprise of the night was my wife's endurance in the game of pong. Normally, by most standards, she tires of pong and is typically catching flies within 15-20 minutes. This time, however, she exhibited a genuine effort and enthusiasm for the game (or at least knowing that it was helping me practice for the upcoming tournament in Vegas.) In any case, there was a lot of practice and especially the serves, which I still feel are average at best, but the remainder of my pong game I would classify as very good and somewhat "threatening" to the opposition. In any case, it was a great date and she is slowly gaining experience in the great game of beer pong.
